New Canaan Y’s Synchronized Swimmers unveil their new routines at 1st major meet of season

The 13- and older members of New Canaan Y’s Aquianas Synchronized Swimming team started their meet season off strongly at the Junior-Senior and 13-15 Age Group Association meet, held at the New Canaan Y on January 26, 2014. 

In the Junior team routine event, two Aquianas teams placed in the top three spots. The Aquianas team of Camilla Kline, Erin Wheeler, Emily Roney, Isabella Montgomery, Alice Chidley, Diya Banerjee, Allie Lin, and Ophelie Tousignant (alternate Alex Poteet) took gold. Aquianas swimmers Katherine Connolly, Katie Chidley, Emma Tchakmakjian, Eileen Flynn, Katherine Reiter, Eliza Wetmore, Sierra Rojas-Thomas, and Lauren LaPorta (alternate Rachel Panzano) took silver in the team routine.

In the Junior Solo and Duet categories, all three top places went to Aquianas swimmers. Farrell, Poteet and Tchakmakjian earned first, second, and third places respectively for their Solos. Duet partners Montgomery and Alice Chidley swam into first place, followed by the duos of Lin/Tousignant and Kline/Poteet.

In the Junior figures portion of the event, the Aquianas swept all of the top ten rankings, with Roney in first place, Montgomery in second, and Wheeler in third. In the 13-15 Age Group figures category, New Canaan swimmers filled nine out of the top ten slots, headed up by Poteet in first place, Tchakmakjian in second, and Farrell in third.
