July 1, 2014
As part of the exciting launch of our new online Swim-a-thon donation program, Swimming Canada is pleased to announce the winners of the three grand prizes that recognize the top fundraisers from across Canada.
Top Individual Fundraiser
This year's top individual fundraiser winner, raising a
grand total of $9,235, is Justin Lisoway from the Foothills
Stingrays Swim Club in Okotoks, Alta.
"This year, the Foothills Stingrays' various groups have attended different training camps.&<60;
During the course of these trips, there were friendships, pain, and memories that can never be forgotten," Lisoway said. "I know that without the intense fundraising that none of these camps would have ever been possible."
For his efforts, Justin's grand prize includes a $5,000 travel credit to take his family on trip anywhere they choose. This can be spent on airfares, hotel nights, on one trip or three!
Top Fundraising Club (overall) AND Top Fundraising Club (per registered competitive swimmer) - Sponsored by Speedo&<74; Canada
The top fundraising club overall winner, raising a grand total of $71,635 is the Vancouver Pacific Swim Club. The top fundraising club per registered competitive swimmer is Natation Para-performance club from Montreal. Natation Para-performance raised $10,895 with seven registered competitive swimmers.
Thanks to our partner Speedo Canada, Vancouver Pacific Swim Club will receive a visit from two-time Olympic Medallist Ryan Cochrane, while multiple Paralympic gold medalist and world-record holder Benoit Huot will visit Natation Para-performance. These visits will take place in the fall of 2014 and be a great way for the team to celebrate their success!
