Team DASH had outstanding performances in Iowa City at the Iowa Swimming Long Course Championships (Summer State) over this past weekend. With an overall finish of 3rd, behind Central Iowa Aquatics (CIA) and Iowa Flyers (IFLY), the scoring was led by group champions in the Senior Boys Division and a 3rd place in the 11 & 12 Girls.
Tori Michel took home Individual High Point honors in the 11 & 12 Girls division w/Anna Pfeiffer finishing in 3rd. Michel was individual champion in 7 events (50, 100, & 200 m Backstrokes, 50 & 100 m Butterfly, 200 & 400 m Individual Medley), while Pfeiffer was a winner in 4 (50, 100, 400 & 800 m Freestyle). And, the 200 m Free Relay of Pfeiffer, Molly Duehr, Christine Kalb, & Michel was a close winner. Michel's swims in the 50 & 100 Backstrokes were Iowa Swimming records for 11 & 12 Girls (and she barely missed the record in the 50 Fly - .01 off).
Connor Schuster was an individual winner in the 10 & Under Boys 50 m Freestyle & 50 m Butterfly, and, finished runner-up in the age group's overall points. His brother Collin was the 3rd place overall finisher in the 11 & 12 Boys division.
The Senior Boys division champions were led by Ben Colin's 3 individual wins (200, 400, & 800 m Frestyles) and Jordan Huff's 2 wins (50 & 100 m Freestyle), plus wins in all 5 relays. Senior divison state records were broken by the 200 m Free Relay (John Colin, Alec Rutkowski, Byron Butler, & Huff) and the 200 m Medley Relay (J.Colin, Andrew Marciniak, Butler, & Huff - this was also a U of I pool record!!). In the 400 m Free Relay, the meet's final event, DASH swept the top 2 spots, with the winning team (J.Colin, Rutkowski, Charlie Warren, & B.Colin) breaking the 15-18 age group state record and narrowly missing a Junior National qualifying time.
Team DASH members; Connor Schuster in the 10 & Under Boys, Tori Michel & Anna Pfeiffer in the 11 & 12 Girls, Collin Schuster & Mathias Chamberlain in the 11 & 12 Boys, Abbie Montag & Addison Henkaline in the 13 & 14 Girls, and Will Colin, Joe Maddux & David Holesinger in the 13 & 14 Boys will be members of an Iowa All-Star team competing in the Central Zone Championships held in Oklahoma City this weekend, Aug. 1 - 3.
John Colin will be competing at the SPEEDO Junior National Championships in Irvine, California, this Wednesday through Sunday (100 m Free on Thursday, 100 m Backstroke on Saturday, & 50 m Freestyle on Sunday).
