Zachary Washburn, reprinted from Columbia Basin Herald

FEDERAL WAY - Moses Lake Manta Ray swimmer Zachary Washburn won three events at the Western Zone Swimming Championships in Federal Way recently.

Washburn took first place in the boys 10 and under 50 fly, 50 freestyle and 100 freestyle.

Washburn's wins make him the fastest 10 and under boy in the 16 western states that compete at the zone meet.

At the meet, Washburn set new Inland Empire records in those three events as well as the 50 back and 100 fly.

According to coach Jerry Johnston, Washburn's time in the 100 freestyle is one of the fastest ever in the United States for a 10-year-old boy.
