Orange Cup Provides Great Start to 2014-15 Short Course Season

We kicked off our season with an incredible start at the Orange Cup this past Saturday.  I was amazed by some of the times our swimmers were putting up in this very first meet of the season, whether they were from new, first time swimmers, or from our elite swimmers coming off their summer-ending championship meets, taper and vacations.  We had 120 best times, 36 new time standards achieved and 2 new ORCA records established; Austin De La O, Calvin Lee, Caden Birinyi and Hayden Beasley in the 10u 200 Medley Relay, and Ethan Nguyen, Julian Gonzalez, Justin Chi and AJ Lemnitzer in the 11-12 200 Medley Relay!  Starting this strong is a good sign for special things to follow.  Look for more news and stats on the meet from our news correspondent and ORCA team parent, Helen Hill in the coming days.

Thank you to all of the parents who helped set up the meet and tear down after the meet, as well as those parents who helped with timing during the meet.  Special thanks to Linda Tessitore and her family for rushing out last second to purchase drinks to sell at the meet which we thought were going to be provided by the taco guy.  Thank you also to our older swimmers who helped with "staging" to make sure the young 25 yard event swimmers from all teams were in the correct lanes for their events.

We pride ourselves as being a very tight-nit family team, and we showed our pride well by cheering for and representing our team very well as always.  We are usually the loudest team behind the lanes cheering for each other, and we did a tremendous job doing that again at this meet.  Keep up the great work!

I saw a lot of parents taking pictures during the meet which we would all love to see.  If you would like to share your photos on our private Facebook group page, please post them to the Orange Regional Competitive Aquatics Team Group at  You will need to be a member of that group to post or view photos, so if you are not already a member, please go to the page and request to be approved.

Great start to a great season ORCA!
