KSC Swims to 3rd Straight Top Ten Finish at Senior Sectionals

KSC finishes Senior Sectional Championship in 9th place overall!

KSC raced to a 9th place finish in the 2015 Senior Sectional Championships in Federal Way, Washington last weekend.  Lia Foster's 3rd place finish in the 200 fly was the team's highest individual finish.  Her 2:00.55 in the event was also a Hawaiian Record breaking swim.  Lia also broke her own Hawaiian Record in the 200 back with a 2:01.00 for 15th as well as scoring 15th in the 500 free with a 5:01.60.

Lena Hayakawa scored in 4 different final swims at the meet.  Lena placed 6th in the 200 breaststroke with a 2:17.98, 13th in the 100 breaststroke with a 1:04.21, 12th in the 200 free with a 1:51.89, and 12th in the 200 fly with her 2:03.27.

Kanoa Kaleoaloha and Rebecca Walton had big meets with 3 final swims each.  Kanoa finished 5th in the 100 free with a 44.70, and 7th in both the 50 free (20.75) and 200 free (1:41.18).  Rebecca had a 6th place finish in the 1000 free with a 10:18.51, 8th place in the 1650 free (17:16.15) and 13th in the 500 with her 5:00.75.

Also scoring individually for KSC was Maia Petrides.  She raced to 10th place in the 1650 free with a 17:22.29 and a 14th place finish in the 1000 free with a 10:28.01.

The entire meet was a huge success with great swims from both the rookies and the veterans.  While unusually warm weather put a halt on the team's plans to go snowboarding, the group did discover the joy of Whirly Ball (Coach John's team won the championship!)  A total of 17 KSC swimmers qualified and participated in the swim meet.  Congratulations to all the swimmers who raced the Senior Sectional Championships!
