Haudek, Rothamel, & Russell Return from Y Nationals

For the first time in our team’s history, three SCY swimmers have qualified for YMCA Nationals. Coach Linda escorted Emily Haudek (17), Emily Rothamel (15), and Samantha Russell (14) as they joined swimmers from 92 teams from around the country at the YMCA Short Course Nationals in Greensboro, NC.

Emily Haudek returned to Nats for her 3rd time and competed in the 200 Back, 100 Fly, 100 Back, 200 Fly, and 100 Free (Time Trial). Some of her highlights were a best time in the 100 Fly (-0.58), improving her seed from 92nd to 60th; and her 200 Fly, where she dropped 1.46 to improve her seed from 108 to 80.

Our first-timers had a great week, too. Emily Rothamel swam the 100 Back, 200 Back, and the 200 Free (Time Trial); and Sam Russell swam the 50 Free, 100 Breast (Time Trial, -0.25 drop), and the 100 Free (Time Trial).

Aside from competing against some of the best swimmers in the country, the girls had a blast, managed to catch some pool-side sun, and even met Olympian Ryan Lochte (see pics).

Congratulations to the girls on their achievements! You made us proud!
