10-under Championships Recap

We had nine swimmers represent The Dolphins at the 10-under Championships this past weekend.  Here is a quick recap:

RILEY BARRINGER (9):  Swam the most yardage of all the Dolphins by competing in the 200 free, 100 fly, 200 IM, 50 free, and 200 free relay.  Lots of laps for that little dynamo!!

EMMANUEL CATIIS (10):  After a goggle tragedy in his first event, he came back to do two best times in 50 fly and 50 back.  He finished really strong in his last event (50 back) by dropping over 2 seconds.

CASEY CORTEZ (10):  Had an amazing 100 IM and dropped 3 seconds.  She was also right on two of her other best times AND competed in both 10-under girls relays.

KALEA HALL (9):  Had a rippin 50 fly and dropped 2 seconds.  She then learned that if she is not afraid of the wall in backstroke, she can go 3 seconds faster in her relay split than she did in her individual race!

JOCELYN JONES (10):  Started the day off with a 26 second drop in her 200 free (wow) followed by a 2 second drop in her 100 IM.  She also competed in the 50 free, 50 back, and both girls’ relays.

JENA NGUYEN (10):  Started her day off with a beautiful 200 free and dropped 3 seconds.  She also swam 100 free, 50 breast, 100 IM, and both relays.

ANDREW VALDEZ (9):  Swam best times in the 100 IM, 50 back, and 50 breast.  Andrew got his FIRST JO ever in the 50 breast—Congratulations!!!!!

INDIO VELASQUEZ (7):  Our youngest competitor at the meet, Indio had great time drops in both his 50 fly and 50 breast—proving himself to be an up and coming super star.

KEITH ZARZA (10):  Keith won the “patience award” by waiting to the last individual event of the day to swim his 100 free.  He came close to his time and shows a lot of potential for the future!
