The 2015 Private Club League Meet was held at the Clearwater Long Center. This year Palma Ceia Country Club moved the championship meet back indoors to prevent any cancelations to the final sessions.
The Palma Ceia Country Club families did amazing job putting together this year's championship meet! It was very exciting to see all the final swimmers walk out to music before the championship heat swam. We saw many great swims including some historic records that were broken. At the end of the meet we had 12 records (8 individual records and 4 relay records) that were broken.
In the 11-12 boys age group we had 4 records broken at this years PCL meet. The first record to be broken went to Scott Showalter in the 11-12 50 free (24.39) breaking Eric Moore's record from 2004. Our second record of the meet went to Logan Ingerick in the 11-12 100 IM (1:05.07) breaking Joey Licht's record from 2012.
The third record went to MacKenzie Stumpf (Countryside) in the 15-18 200 IM (2:07.83 in prelims) breaking Sarah Wootens 1999 record and then Stumpf returned to finals to improve the record to a 2:07.21.
The fourth record of the meet went back to the 11-12 boys 50 back where Scott Showalter breaks Eric Moore 2004 record in prelims. In the finals Kory Kimura from Countryside out touched Showalter to become the new 11-12 50 back recorder holder with a time of 28.75.
The first relay to be broken was the 13-14 girls 200 Free (1:45.16) with Countryside (Delp, Vasilakos, Walkup, Osborne) breaking Tampa Yacht's 2009 record. This concluded all the records for the Saturday sessions.
Sunday morning Scott Showalter shows up to break one of the oldest records Doug Soltis - 40 year old record in the 11-12 50 breaststroke. Scott broke it by a tenth of a second going 32.20 in prelims. He returned for finals improving his new 11-12 50 breaststroke record to 32.19.
In the 13-14 girls age group we had Caroline Rossi (Palma Ceia Country Club) break the 13-14 100 breaststroke record previously held by Lauren Hall from 2009 with a time of 1:08.61.
The breaststroke records continued to be broken at this years PCL Meet. MacKenzie Stumpf (Countryside) broke the 15-18 breaststroke record previously held by Annika Smith 2012 improving the record to 1:05.47.
The last individual record went to Noah Lense (Countryside) breaking the 15-18 boys 100 Butterfly record (50.04) previously held by Cameron Martin in 1997.
On the final day we had three relay records broken. The first going to the girls 13-14 200 Medley Relay (1:58.13) from Countryside (Osborne, Taymans, Avery, Delp) Previously held by Palma Ceia Country Club in 2011.
In the Female Open 200 Medley Relay Countryside (Stumpf, Nuyianes, Kiser, Dealvarez) set the new record 1:56.51 previously held by Countryside in 2006.
Final meet record went to the Male Open 200 Medley Relay of Countryside (Licht, Ramsey, Lense, Kantzler) with a time of 1:39.69 breaking the 2007 Countryside record.

We had one of the fastest PCLs in 2015. We look forward to even faster swimming in 2016! Congrats to all the swimmers for their hard work this spring/summer season!
