Nicolaas Dekker and Head Coach Rob Pettifer returned from Hong Kong late on Monday night after the third and final stop on the FINA World Cup Tour. As a part of Team Canada, Nic raced some of the best in the world, including Olympic gold medalists and world record holders. Rob was on hand as a member of the coaching staff.
Nic qualified twice for finals out of three meets, both times in the 200 butterfly. His performances were consistent, with steady improvements through the final day.
The ultimate goal of this trip was to help Nic prepare for December, where he will also be representing Canada at this year’s FINA SC World Swimming Championships in Windsor, Ontario.
As you are probably aware, preparation and competition can get expensive quickly, especially when you’re trying to perform at this level. The Richmond Rapids will be running a public fundraising campaign to help Nic represent his club and country.
We will be taking orders for TEAM DEKKER shirts from now until November 15, and you can expect delivery before the meet starts on December 6.
Each shirt costs $25, and 100% of the profits will go directly to financially supporting Nic.
A mockup of the shirt is attached. All orders can be sent to firstname.lastname@example.org. Make sure to include your size! Feel free to forward this on to anyone you know who would be willing to help Nic.
His support page can be found at makeachamp.com/teamdekker/25598 and will continue to run through his preparation for World Trials in April.
