Michael Fish Memorial Scholarship

Michael Fish Memorial Scholarship

Since September 2013, the YSF Barracudas Swim team has been host to the annual Michael’s Memorial Meet in honor of Michael Fish who was killed by a drunk driver in 2011.

Michael Fish was an instrumental leader of the YSF Barracudas and a founding member of the Parent Advisory Committee (PAC).

As our Head Meet Official for both, USA Swimming and YMCA Swimming, we lost a valuable asset and mentor. Michael spent many hours on the pool deck, and in the classroom mentoring parents on the finer points of being a good and compassionate official. His wisdom and vision helped us establish a strong foundation that has assisted our team’s growth.

As a result of these meets, and your continued participation in them, the YSF Barracudas have donated $3,870.00 to the MADD Organization since 2014 in honor of Michael Fish supporting the MADD for Fish 5K

This year the Parent Advisory Committee along with the Fish family (Kathy, Jared and Hannah), voted to establish the Michael Fish Memorial Scholarship.

This scholarship will be available to Senior high school members of the YSF Barracudas swim team who are furthering their academic path going to college, Jr college, or trade school. A total of (2) scholarships in the amount of $500 each will be awarded in April of ever year.

Submission deadline for applications is the 1st Sunday of April every year, and applications can be emailed to board@ysfbarracudas.com, or can be given directly to Coach Spire.

Thank you all for your continued support to our swim program!!!
