KSC scores 2nd place finish at the Southern Sectional Championships!

Kamehameha Swim Club finished 2nd place overall at the Southern Sectional Championships March 9-12 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.  31 KSC Swimmers attended the meet.  Michael Petrides' 1st place in the 800 Free was the team's highest individual finish as well as establishing a new 15-16 Hawaiian State Record time in 8:22.19.  Michael finished 2nd in both the 200 and 400 Free, breaking the state record in the 200 with a time of 1:52.06.  Also scoring a top 8 finish on the men's side included Christian Nishimura with his 5th place finish in the 200 Breaststroke and 7th place finish in the 100 Breaststroke.  

Grace Monahan established 2 new Hawaiian State Records in the 13-14 age group with her 2:21.30 200 Fly and 2:23.41 200 IM.  KSC girls had three top 8 finishes in the 800 Free: Grace Monahan (3rd), Maia Petrides (7th), and Jamy Lum (8th).  Shaye Story finished 4th and Mari Yasumi 5th in the 1500 Free.  Jamy Lum and Lia Foster both picked up 6th place finishes in the 100 Breaststroke and 100 Fly respectively.   
The meet was a great success as the swimmers thrived in the warm Florida weather, and then celebrated with a day at Disneyworld afterwards.  Congratulations to all the swimmers who raced at the Senior Sectional Championships!
