NASA Showcase Classic 2017

                                         2017 NASA Showcase Classic

As is tradition, 28 of our strongest 14 & under swimmers migrated down to Florida (Clearwater to be exact!) for this year’s NASA Showcase Classic.  This national-level meet features teams and swimmers from all over the country, and gives us a chance to measure ourselves against the fastest kids in the nation. With tons of fast swims over the four-day meet, the FISH were very successful, including the girls’ team, who are coming home as Team Champions!

We had 7 athletes place as top 10 individual overall scorers: Emma Redman (1st, 10 year old girls), Charlie Scogna (5th, 10 year old girls), Courtney Watts (3rd, 11 year old girls), Victoria Valko (8th, 12 year old girls), Liam Redman (8th, 13 year old boys), Aiken Do (9th, 13 year old boys), and Allison Martin (4th, 14 year old girls).

When all was said and done, The FISH came home with 95 medals, 11 new team records, 2 come from behind relay victories, 1 new Champions banner to hang at the pool, countless hours of GoPro videos, and 28 shiny new homemade Pokémon cards. We followed up our trip with our annual voyage to Adventure Island Water Park, where we learned the importance of sunscreen and the permanence of bad tattoos.

Congratulations to all the FISH swimmers who participated in this prestigious event, we hope to have even more qualified next season!  Go FISH!
