Just a reminder about the Parade tomorrow! I have included the email from last week since I know there were a few who didn't get it. Please read through the information below. We would love to have plenty of parents to walk with the team as well. Make sure your swimmer wears their orange MAC shirt, has sunblock on, and has good walking shoes. We would like swimmers to bring their goggles and wear them on top of their head as if they had just gotten out of the pool. Also, if they have any medals, real or fake, please wear them. The kids on the side of the road are really impressed by medals and it stirs interest. We will provide water as needed throughtout the parade. Kids should be dropped off at the North East corner parking lot of Fashion Place Mall by 7:45. We are entry # 54. Pick-up after the parade is at the Hillcrest Junior High parking lot. If you hace any questions, text me at 801-953-5610.
Our Parade information packet has arrived. MAC will be in the Murray Parade on July 4th. We will be gathering in the North East Corner parking lot of Fashion Place Mall at the coner of 6100 S and Fashion Blvd. We are entry #54. The parade starts at 8:30am and the route will start there in that lot and move west to State Street, North on State Street to Vine street, East on Vine Street to Murray Park Lane, through the park and past the ice center and finish at 5300 South. The route is 2.5 miles long.
We do not have a trailer, or a float this year. We are walking! We would love to have as many parents walk with the kids as are interested and willing. We are asking that all who are walking, both parents and swimmers, wear the bright orange MAC t-shirts. If you do not have one, please see Coach Dale. Besides what is listed above, here are some important details:
Participants need to meet or be dropped off at the staging area described above by 7:45am. Participants will need good walking shoes, sunblock, and of course their Orange MAC shirts. For parents, hats and Sunglasses are fine but we would like the swimmers to wear their swim googles on their heads as if they had just gotten out of the pool. This helps identify us as swimmers. All swimmers are encouraged to wear as much bling as possible. And by Bling we mean any medals they have won over the years. We have talked about getting some plastic ones for swimmers who do not have any medals of their own yet to wear. The medals worn last year got a lot of attention and comments by spectators. Swimmers may also wear any arm floaties, or inflateable rings to make it fun. Even a couple with towels and a Snorkle or two amongst them might be cool. There are no water guns, or anything of the like allowed.
Kids may be picked up after the parade in the Junior High Parking Lot next to the Library. We will provide water bottles for participants throughout the parade. A good breakfast before dropping off your kids is encouraged to give them enough fuel to walk the 2.5 mile route. The coaches are feeling generous and have decided to let the parade be practice on Tuesday.
Lets HAVE FUN and lets get out and Represent MAC!
