BIG Coaching Announcements for Empire KC!

The Empire KC Board of Directors is proud to announce the hiring of two new coaches in two new positions.

Marjorie Sherard, Head Coach – Lead Age Group Coach

Marjorie Sherard is taking the helm of the Empire KC Swim Club as Head Coach, and will direct coaching and development of the Age Group program as Lead Age Group Coach. Many know Marjorie for years of commitment to Kansas City swimming and the Missouri Valley LSC—perhaps as an Age Group coach for over twenty years with the Kansas City Blazers, or as a coach for Central Zones, Mid-States All-Star Championships, and Diversity Camps. Marjorie has held several chair and committee positions in the Missouri Valley LSC as well, plus she was named MVS’ Age Group Coach of the Year in 2013 and Employee of the Year at Johnson County Parks & Recreation in 2015.

Marjorie says she is impressed with EKC’s determination to create an environment focused on the whole child, not solely swimming performance and she is excited for the unique opportunity to be Head Coach while coaching Age Group swimmers.

Carmen Menges, Assistant Coach – Lead NFG & Senior Coach

Coach Carmen Menges is now Lead Coach for the National Focus Group and Senior Group. Carmen has coached as a volunteer, tirelessly sharing her expertise, enthusiasm, and energy with the swimmers and parents of EKC (and KC Blazers-East before,) over the past seven years. She is a Founding Member of Empire KC, and was highly involved in the creation of the new club.

Coach Carmen believes that no other sport prepares our youth for life better than swimming.  “It is why we are so drawn to this sport we love.”
