July Swimmers of the Month
These swimmers were selected by the coaching staff for their attendance, effort, attitude, and performance in the month of June
National - Carrington Erquiaga. Carrington entered this season determined to perform well in long course. With only a few short weeks of long course training behind her, she delivered in a big way at the Commonwealth Games. She won 5 medals and swam to five best times, also swimming the 1500 for the first time. She dropped over 4 seconds in the 100 breast, 7 in the 200 free, and 11 in the 400 free. Congrats, Carrington!
Varsity - Joshua Bodine. Joshua has had a great long course season. He has been focused on training harder so that he can race faster. Josh's efforts in training showed at the Commonwealth Games where he dropped time in 100% of his swims. His best swim of the meet was the 1500 -- Josh executed a great race and dropped over two minutes to go a 19:33.73. He also made significant improvements in butterfly and IM he dropped 18.5 seconds in the 400 IM, 17.14 seconds in the 100 fly, 29.47 seconds in the 200 fly, and 10.76 in the 200 IM.
Gold - Sage Searwar is the swimmer of the month for long course for his consistency and always working hard in practice. Sage has been working really intently on his breaststroke and we have seen a huge improvement on it, including a 12-second drop in the 100 breast at the Commonwealth Games. We are very proud of Sage and his accomplishments this summer!
