Sarah Nicholls and Nicole Rozier travelled to Gresham, Oregon for the 2017 Speedo Western Sectional championships last weekend. Both ladies showcased their talent against nearly 1000 swimmers from Arizona to Alaska with lots of fast swims and great competition!
Nicole, back with us after her freshman year at LSU, swam 4 events over the course of the weekend, highlighted by a new team record in the 100 fly during prelims on Saturday! She placed 8th in that event in finals, and would add another “A” final swim in the 200 IM on Sunday, finishing 6th. Nicole also made the “C” finals in the 100 back on Saturday, finishing 24th; her 100 fly,100 back and 200 IM swims all made CAST’s all time performance lists.
Sarah had 2 “A” final swims as well, finishing 3rd in the 200 breaststroke and 4th in the 100 breaststroke. She added finals swims in the 200 IM, placing 14th, and 400 IM, placing 25th with a great race that won the consolation finals heat. Sarah also went a best time in her 100 fly on Saturday in prelims. Both her breaststroke races and her 400 IM swim made the team’s top performance list.
Despite only bringing 2 swimmers, their combined scores placed them 18th on the women’s side at the meet out of the more than 60 teams in attendance! Great job to both of them!
