Part Time Coach for USA Swim Team

The North Pole Aquatic Club (NPAC) is seeking a part-time assistant swim coach to join our coaching staff.  Our team consists of 60 to 100 children ages 5 to 18.  The assistant coach will be primarily responsible for the beginner group consisting of children who are able to swim 25 yards unassisted.  Coach will be required to be in the pool with swimmers and provide instruction on the proper technique and USA Swimming rules for the butterfly, freestyle, backstroke, and breaststroke.  In addition to proper technique, coach will be responsible for creating practice plans that provide age-appropriate conditioning to increase speed and stamina.


Job Responsibilities:

• Develop practice plans for/and maintain supervision of assigned groups at all times
• Oversee progression of athletes to include goal setting and development monitoring
• Attend all assigned practices
• Work with coaching staff to develop the program
• Determine individual and relay events for athletes as directed by Head Coach
• Attend swim meets and warm-ups as directed by Head Coach
• Attend all team events as directed by Head Coach
• Assist in set-up and clean-up at home swim meets
• Assist with the set-up and clean-up of the pool for training sessions
• Create a safe, positive, collaborative, and enthusiastic environment
• Remain after practice/meets to answer parent questions and address concerns as needed
• Present professional appearance and attitude at all times



• Competitive Swimming Experience Preferred
• Knowledge of USA Swim Meet Format and Rules Preferred
• Flexible Schedule (Evenings and Weekends Required)
• Successful USA Swimming Background Check
• Valid CPR/AED Certification
• Valid Safety Training for Swim Coaches Certification
• Completion of Foundations of Coaching 101
• Completion of Athlete Protection Training Course
• Completion of ASCA Foundations of Coaching
• Completion of ASCA Stroke School
• Punctuality
• Excellent Verbal and Written Communication Skills
• Ability to Resolve Conflict and Handle Crisis
• Positive Attitude
