CITY OF PALM SPRINGS BUDGET CUTS
September 22, 2017
The above article from the Desert Sun is discussing proposed areas the City is looking into budget cuts in relation to the Tax increase measure on the November Ballot. What's not mentioned in the article but the third item on the list that is shown, closing of the Palm Springs Swim Center. As a non profit our organization won't support or speak against the Tax Measure, but I will ask any residents of the City of Palm Springs that support any Aquatics programming to attend the City Council meeting next Tuesday at 6pm and consider voicing how important the Swim Center has been and will be to the community. It would be especially great if any kids that are City of Palm Springs residents would say something. Regardless of the Sales Tax measure passing or failing, the Swim Center needs to stay and we want this City Council to understand that.
This goes beyond Piranha interest as this will affect all recreational and lap swimmers, City Camp participants, fitness classes, learn to swim classes, and Palm Springs High School athletics.
