Monstrous Swims at Berkeley's Splash

The Barracudas attended the Monster Splash at Berkeley Aquatics in New Providence over the weekend, proving they’ve dusted off the cobwebs and are prepared for some scary-good times this season.

The meet was long course, testing the 33 attending NJB swimmers’ early-season training and mental toughness. They proved both with ‘Cudas earning top places and Career Best Times in the process.

It is not customary for swimmers to achieve best times early in the season, and certainly not common in long course meets. Despite that, 65 swims were (converted) Career Best Times; many with significant drops! Some impressive drops were Peyton Bates’ 100 Free (-6.13), 50 Breast (-8.04), 50 Fly (12.71), 50 Free (-5.83); Zach Bezold’s 200 Free (-5.03), 100 Breast (-5.14); Andrew Colligan’s 100 Back (-10.54); Ty Hollar’s 50 Free (-10.23); Ryan Juckett’s 100 Free (-5.90); Nathaniel Kern’s 100 Back (-6.10), 100 Free (-12.75), 50 Fly (-6.89); Jess Kiederling’s 100 Back (-16.18); Sydney Mills’ 200 Back (-9.03); Billy Ruddy’s 200 Free (-15.61); and Jared Witt’s 100 Breast (-5.93) just to name a few! There were many other great swims throughout the weekend.

NJB Swimmers earned 47 Top-3 places, including 19 Firsts by Zach Bezold (50 Free, 100 & 200 Breast), Hannah Calderon (100 Back, 50 Free); Andrea Carlson (400 & 100 Free, 200 Back); Ethan Cross (100 Free); Jake Leddy (1500 & 200 Free); Grace Maruska (100 Breast); Jordan Maruska (200 Back, 50 Free); Jake Riva (400 & 800 Free); Sam Russell (100 Fly, 800 Free); and Sean Sharma (100 Fly, 50 Free).

Congratulations to all of the swimmers! Results have been uploaded into the system; check out My Meet Results in your account or on OnDeck.
