GCY, GRIT, AND GROWTH MINDSET
While coaching our National team over the past several years, I've been amazed at the "GRIT" of our most successful swimmers, it is absolutely the number one determing factor in a swimmer's success. GRIT was mentioned in a recent quote by Olympic Coach David Marsh, he defines "grit" by things like "arriving ready and early at all times", and "being willing to put in the extra work" and "loving the process".
I'm seeing GRIT daily right now in many of our GCY swimmers!
We encourage all swimmer, parents, and coaches to watch this video on grit. GCY has been focusing on developing "GRIT" in our athletes at the top levels, but wanted to communicate that goal to all groups and levels and all coaches, parents, and swimmers.
It is inspiring to see it in action in several of our top performers, please watch this video to learn more if you haven't seen it yet:
Also, our coaches have been focusing on praising in correct ways, and we want parents echoing this as it is a first step in developing "Gritty" kids and "Gritty" swimmers, this is a shorter video we encourage you to watch:
