Dallas Fall Invite

We had a very good weekend at the Dallas Fall Invite last weekend. Callie, Delaney, and Kendall were central to an 11th place finish with Longhorn's women's side, which competed against some very experienced teams. And Brandon did his usual Ironman thing playing for Pegasus, both 12u and 14u. You can find all the results below. Congratulations to all our athletes who participated.

Live Scoring and Final Results

Lone Star League Fall Championships

Our 6th Grade team won both matches and showed huge improvement, shutting down the opponents and getting out on the counterattack to score early and often. Brandon was a counterattack maniac, Luca showed off his lefty shooting, and Joey was a constant ball thief in his first games ever. Those same athletes also participated on our 8th Grade Team combined with Zilla. Their opponents were very strong but the team still gave a great effort. Riley was a defensive stud again, and Nilmary showed off bigtime defensive improvements too.

Our 12th Grade Team had its best Lone Star League day so far. With a roster of seven athletes total, including Ben from Waco, they played two games back to back Ironman-style! No substitutes and short breaks. Just that effort alone was something to celebrate. In the second game we gave Boerne a big challenge, tied in the third quarter, before running out of gas. In both games Kendall found the net several times from center, our newcomers Callie and Delaney got their first exposure to Texas ball scoring and (more importantly!) leading our defense against the counterattack. Chris B and Zairis both showed off new and improved defensive skills preventing several scoring chances by the enemy. Last of all, Brandon played six (!) games on Sunday, two against athletes as old as 18. For the 12th Grade team he not only helped us out as goalkeeper, he scored two key goals!

Scheduling Update

The Fall season is closing out and we will take a break beginning on November 18 through Thanksgiving. The Winter season schedule will be out soon.

Lone Star Winter (Polar Bear) League

AQTX Waterpolo will be hosting two Lone Star Winter League Game Days on December 10 and January 15. Our Events Chair will again lead the effort to organize volunteers for both Game Days. Beginning this winter we will charge an entry fee for non-athletes ($4 for adults, $2 for kids). Also, AquaTex athletes will be charged to play in Lone Star League Game Days. The fee is yet to be determined but will be less than the cost of playing in a USAWP tournament.

Calendar

USA Water Polo ODP

The second of three Olympic Development Program (ODP) camps for the Southwest Zone takes place in Lewisville (Dallas area) on November 25-26. We had a great turnout at the first camp in September at UT. Athletes will be trained by world-class coaches at these camps. Those who demonstrate sufficient skills will be selected to age-appropriate Southwest Zone teams, which will compete in California at the ODP National Championships. Registration will open soon.

USA Water Polo Winter Tourneys

Beginning this winter we will charge athletes a flat fee of $45 to participate in USA Water Polo tournaments. Previously, athletes were charged fees that varied according to the team they played for. The schedule will be coming from USAWP soon.
