From Our Meet Coordinator:
1. Jingle Bell Classic Wrap-Up: Thank you, thank you, thank you!! I can’t even begin to name everyone who helped this weekend as that list would just be HUGE! I do want to say thank you to our new parents who jumped right in and said “show me and I’ll do it”. I know this is overwhelming at first and our new families did a great job! Please know that you have joined an amazing group of families who work together and share their time and talents endlessly. Thank you to our coaches and officials who stood on that deck for hours and hours all to support and encourage our swimmers. Thank you to all of the parents and board members who worked long shifts. I appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding as we tweaked shift times to be able to host the largest Jingle Bell Meet I’ve seen in the 7 years I’ve been here. I plan to get credits entered and finalized this week. Watch for more information next week about how to check your credits. Please return your volunteer shirt to the table near the ribbon this week or next if possible. Finally, if you have questions, suggestions, and even complaints, please email me at email@example.com . I sincerely welcome any and all feedback.
2. SuperBowl Splash: We will also begin to plan for the Super Bowl Splash on January 26th-28th. If you were not able to get many volunteer credits this weekend, don’t worry… we’ll need even more help at that meet since there are 7 sessions! Those sign-ups will open sometime after Christmas.
3. Volunteer Credit Opportunities: I am looking for people to assist with concessions for the middle school and high school home meets. If you have a middle or high school swimmer and want to help out, email me at firstname.lastname@example.org and I’ll let you know which dates I have available. Working one meet counts as one credit. Most of the meets are in the evening during the week. High school home meets start this week and middle school starts in January.
Samantha's House and Van Foundation Information: It was so exciting to see our own Coach Sam and her family be the recipient of the Samantha's House and Van Foundation remodel! A special presentation was given to Coach Sam and her family on Saturday, November 18th during the Jingle Bell Classic swim meet. Samantha's House and Van Foundation is an important and wonderful non-profit organization that helps families improve their home and surroundings to assist families members that have serious injuries or disabilities. Please visit the Samantha's House and Van Foundation site here to read more about this wonderful organization and support a good cause and read about Coach Sam and her family! Information is also available on our website. Click the Samantha's House logo and then click 'Latest News' to learn more.
New Team Website Template and Logo: Our new club website has been rolled out and our new team logo has been added! We have worked with Team Unify to create a new website that incorporated our new club logo, team colors and changed the look and design of the website. As we continue to use the website as an important tool for communicating and providing information, we wanted to update our site with some new design features. The information and location of the documents, YouTube videos, and links has NOT changed. Your password and log in has NOT changed. You can still access the information under the same menu tabs as you did with the old website.
Swim Buddy Program: We want to send a huge thank you and shout out to our swimmers that served and/or participated in our swim buddy program this past weekend. The swim buddy program was something new we tried this year to help our newer/younger swimmers competing in a swim meet to be paired up with a more experienced swimmer in their age group. Both our experienced and newer swimmers did an awesome job this past weekend! We would like to especially recognize: Sophia Raman, Eli Graybeal, Adam Schifeling, Brooke Trammell, Ava Cox, Hallie Mimbela, Mikaela Lorber, Zoe Land, Kiera Kobiela, Katie Nguyen, Harrison Hite, Evan Hernandez, Ethan Hite, Ethan McGuire, Weiland Augustyniak, Rebekah Ebert, Abigail Ebert, Lily Culverhouse, Emerson Seguin, Elijah Emmons, Braden Dietrich, and Jack Maled. If your swimmer would be interested in participating in this program or wants to be paired up for a future swim meet, please send an email to email@example.com.
College Swimming Information: Our Senior/High School team is growing and we are excited about the start of high school swim season this year! We receive lots of questions about swimming in college, recruiting, what programs are offered, where and when does a swimmer and parent start to think about the potential to swim in college. On the website, under our 'Parent Info Page' we have added a 'College Swimming and Recruiting Timeline' page where you can find some helpful information about swimming in college. This page is a good place to start and provides links to different college eligibility sites, shows a recruiting timeline from Freshman year to Senior year, outlines what activities your swimmer can begin doing each year, what colleges can do and not do during certain times. Parents can book mark this webpage so you and your high school swimmer can read up on this information to begin thinking about next steps.
