TTSC Holiday Invite.

THSC had a little over 100 swimmers attend the TTSC Holiday Invite Meet. Friday night began with 400 IM’s and 500 frees.  We had a fairly large group there with some excellent swims.  Katherine Adams improved her time in the 400 IM from only one week ago to get under the NWAG cut and place 2nd over all!  Akira van de Groenendaal bettered his 400 IM time by almost 50 seconds getting his USA AAA cut he has been reaching for and took 3rd place overall! We had our first champions in the girls 500 free, Congratulations to Kate Jablonski winning with her teammate Alice Yueh coming in 2nd.  In the boys 500 free, we had a great race with Kevin Lei and Duc Bui who swam neck and neck most of the race, with Kevin pulling out the win in their heat!

But the real win of the night was Shivani Neresh who cheered for all of the Thunderbolts down to the last heat!  Both Shivani and her sister Nishita get the TEAM SPIRIT AWARD for the weekend…cheering on everyone.  They are great examples of what we are looking for in teammates!

Saturday and Sunday AM sessions were filled with our 12 and under swimmers.  All of the coaches agree we had some very good racing and speed.
The 9 and under swimmers did a great job all weekend having good long strokes, keeping their kick!  Luca Ignatescu swam the 200 free and followed his race instructions well…even splitting his race for a best time!  Yeha Park stayed strong throughout her 100 butterfly and maintained her breathing pattern!

The 10 year olds

Coach Tristan was very impressed with how well the group listened to race strategy and followed his instructions during events, and was glad to see legal and efficient turns in the IM events. (Awesome back to breast turns!).  The group also had fantastic streamline kicks off the Dives and turns! I was very impressed with how tight their streamlines have become!

11-12 year olds
This is a great group of kids who had some excellent swims focusing on pacing and racing!  Their technique has improved greatly and although they are doing well, they have a great attitude about how they can get better always asking the right questions about their races and trying to follow through with their race strategy!  A few great races…..Stephanie Lee had a few good close races and came out on top in the 100 free for a best time of 56.66. Alex Fagen, winning the 50 free dropping almost a full second!

Highlights for afternoon session.

Kevin Lei 100 fly first time under 1:00. Looked great improved his tempo a lot!

Richard Wen, was on fire this weekend! All of his swims were at 100% and he really pushed himself to get best times! His work payed off and he dropped 13 seconds in both the 200 I'm and 200 back! He also dropped 7 seconds in the 100 back and breast! What a meet performance for Richard!
