The YOTA Swim Team had a record breaking finish to the first half of the 2017 - 2018 short course season. At Capital Classic, there were three relay records and one individual team record broken at the meet. The foursome of Katie Carson, Jenna Maloy, Savannah Xu, and Hailey Hicks swam a time of 1:49.43 to break the 13 - 14 200 Medley Relay record by nearly a second from 2016 which was previously held by Ari Meyer, Maria Baric, Brooke Morgan, and Lauren Medlin (1:50.31).
There were two 13 – 14 male relay records broken; the 200 Free Relay and the 200 Medley Relay. Ben Prucha, Tommy Coppedge, John Prucha, and Landon Soroka teamed up to swim a time of 1:29.51 to take down the 200 Free Relay previously set by Shaw Satterfield, Perry Becker, Tommy Coppedge, and Jack Benton (1:30.56). Matthew Congiusta, Tommy Coppedge, Lucas Ansede, and Ben Prucha scooted under the old record of 1:40.92 with a time of 1:40.43 which was set by Karl Boynton, Chase Binion, Brian Legarth, and Jon Suits from 2013.
Lilly Welsh swam a new record for the 11 – 12 Girls in the 200 Backstroke. She swam a time of 2:10.08 to take down Sabrina Benson’s old record of 2:11.45 from 2006.
