Upper Arlington Swim Club Recognized as Silver Medal Club on 2018 USA Swimming Club Excellence List

This ranks UASC in the top 100 clubs nationwide!

Upper Arlington, OH – For the second straight year, the Upper Arlington Swim Club has been awarded the honor of a Silver medal ranking in the USA Swimming Club Excellence program, recognizing the organization’s highest-performing clubs in the development of athletes 18 years and younger.

Upper Arlington Swim Club featuring Senior National Qualifiers Parker Neri, Katie Trace, and Dakota Elliott in addition to Junior National Qualifiers Andrew Kibbe, Hannah Caldwell, Kendra Sheehan, and Alec Caswell tallied 8,726 points (the clubs highest ever total) to finish 76th in the country.

“Upper Arlington Swim Club is honored to once again be named a Silver Medal award winner from USA Swimming” said coaches Todd Saltus, Mike de Bear, Dan Peterkoski, and Erin Reetz. “This achievement is reached because of the dedication of our 18 & Under athletes, their coaches and parents.  It is truly special for UASC as we are a one community club where all athletes compete for one school and for one goal.  It is our goal to help every young athlete in our program reach their potential.  We thank USA Swimming for the recognition!”

Now in its 17th year, the USA Swimming Club Excellence program identifies clubs that execute strong, well-rounded programs to produce elite 18-and-under athletes. The top 20 clubs earn Gold level ranking and those rated 21-100 are designated as Silver honorees. The next 100 clubs are recognized at the Bronze level.

Nation’s Capital Swim Club was the top team in the rankings for the fourth year a row with 91,597 points.  The other teams from Ohio Swimming to be named to this program are: Mason Manta Rays (Gold), Northern Kentucky Clippers (Silver), Dayton Raiders (Silver), Ohio State Swim Club (Silver), Cincinnati Marlins (Bronze), and Powel Crosley Y (Bronze).  UASC and Ohio State are the only Central Ohio clubs to be named in the Club Recognition program.

“Earning a Gold, Silver, or Bronze ranking has become a highly coveted honor for our club teams. The competition to earn a Club Excellence ranking continues to be more and more challenging.” said Pat Hogan, USA Swimming’s Club Development Managing Director. “On behalf of USA Swimming, I want to congratulate each of 200 clubs that have earned a ranking in the 2018 program.”
