Charlottesville, VA, December 18, 2017 - Virginia Gators of Charlottesville has earned Gold Medal Status in the 2018 USA Swimming Club Excellence program, recognizing the organization’s highest-performing clubs in the development of athletes 18 years and younger. Virginia Gators of Charlottesville is part of the Virginia Gators franchise that includes teams located in Roanoke and Harrisonburg.
“Virginia Gators is honored to achieve Gold Medal status in the Club Excellence program this year,” said J.J. Bean, head coach of the Virginia Gators of Charlottesville. “This is a team effort by all of our athletes, coaches andfamilies that work so hard during the year to achieve excellence in our sport. Our rank places us 14th among all USA Swim clubs in the country,” added Bean.
The Virginia Gators have been awarded the coveted Gold Medal Status through USA Swimming's Club Excellence program. Each year, the Club Excellence program recognizes the organization’s highest-performing clubs in the development of athletes 18 years and younger. Each team’s ranking score is based on the FINA Points Table, a power point rating system that assigns point values toswimmingperformancesbased on the Gold, Silver or Bronze time standard. “Earning a Gold, Silver or Bronze ranking is a reflection of the hard work and time invested by athletes and coaches and has become a highly coveted honor for our teams. To see new clubs earn a spot on this list is exciting and a testament that the future of club swimming continues to be bright,” said , USA Swimming’s Club Development Managing Director.
