Thunderbolts Shine in Winnipeg

THUNDERBOLTS SHINE IN WINNIPEG

 

Fourteen athletes from the Thunderbolts Swim Club competed at the Manitoba-Saskatchewan Short Course Provincial Championships in Winnipeg at the Pan Am Pool this past weekend. The Bolts ended up 9th in the team standings with a remarkable 94% personal best times and medal count of 12 individual medals and 3 relay medals. The Bolts performances also lead to a number of the individual medallists being ranked in the Top 10 nationally and provincially in the their age group.

 

Cameron Johnsen (16) won a Gold and a Silver in breastroke events and Sam Chisholm (12) raced to a Bronze in the 400IM. Hannah Johnsen (14) raced away with 3 Silver and a Bronze in Backstroke and IM events, Isabel Harri (13) added a Gold and a Silver in Breastroke events, Zoe Hunt (15) was awarded a SIlver and a Bronze in Breastroke and Freestyle events and Aminah Fares (17) raced to a Silver in the 50m Backstroke.


 

The 15 and over Girls team of Lindsay Puhalski (15), Aminah Fares (17), Madison Halvorsen (17) and Emily Murphy (15) took home the Silver medal in the 200m Free Relay and the 200m Medley relay. In the 13/14 year old Medley Relay, the team of Hannah Johnsen (14), Isabel Harri (13), Jamie Puhalski (13) and Emma Adamson(14) battled to a Silver medal. 

 

Also adding to the total individual points for the team were Emma Adamson, Nikolas Black (12), Madison Halvorsen, Emily Murphy, Jamie Puhalski and Lindsay Puhalski. 

 

The Bolts return to the pool this week as they prepare for the transition to a very busy Long Course season that starts up in January.
