Ontario Junior International 2017 Recap

Ontario Junior International 2017 Recap

This past weekend 6 members or WAC competed at the 2017 Ontario Junior International swim meet in Toronto.

Jasmine Aden, Nicole Depooter, Madelyn Gatrall, Maddie McDonald, Ethan Fazekas & Brendan Oswald

WAC faired quite well with numerous top 16 performances, 7 individual club records, 2 relay records and a few near medal performances. This was the largest team we have sent since the inception of the meet 4 years ago.  Three of the swimmers will be moving on next year and we are looking for some new swimmers to step up and fill those spots!

This meet is for the fastest 18 & Under’s in Canada, with a flavor of foreign competition that included junior national team members from England, and a club team from Japan.  Olympic Champion Penny Oleksiak was the premiere swimmer in the pool and easily won her events, breaking national age group records individually and as part of her relays.  There were some incredible Canadian Jr. National records set at the meet and it was an extremely exciting environment to compete in.  Check out the recap of the event on Swim Ontario’s site here.
