Dear LSSC Swimmers & Parents,
The January team ritual of
attending the polar plunge at Narragansett Town Beach, hosted by
The Lions Club has been a part of our swim culture since
2010. *This year however, the temps are very low.
Predictions are for 14-16 degree weather and wind chill with water
temps at 7.2’C / 45’F
NOAA New Year's Day Sunny, with a high near 14. Wind chill values as low as -11. Northwest wind around 11 mph.
Health concerns exist, so we will not promote this years plunge as a team event to our swimmers.
We do know several senior
swimmers and parents are planning to attend, and swim. We dig
ya bravery, brrrr.
If you choose to plunge this year we recommend, blankets and/or towels ready for you upon exiting water. Wear warm clothing that is easy to shed & thrown back on. Hats, gloves are a must. Locate your teammates on the beach and watch out for each others safety as you run in and out of water.
The Local Lions club sponsors the event and takes donations. If you would like to support them registration is onsite opening at 10:00 AM. The plunge start time is 12:00 Noon.
