FAST was well-represented at the 2018 Mid States All Star Championships that took place at the IUPUI Natatorium in Indianapolis on January 6 – 7, 2018. “The Team Indiana Mid States squad is the most selective Indiana team we have,” said Roch King, Sports Development Director with Indiana Swimming. Of the 90 athletes on the highly selective Team Indiana squad, FAST representatives were Sammy Bridges, Addison Carlile, Connor Carlile, Jackson Carlile, Madelyn Christman, Meghan Christman, Kyle Ponsler, Frankie Ramey, JoJo Ramey, Lydia Reade, James Stasey, and Alexandra Stein. Competing against all-star teams from Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, the Missouri Valley, and Ohio, the Team Indiana All Stars emerged victorious – winning the championship meet by over 1,200 points.
The FAST swimmers on the squad were outstanding. In addition to numerous lifetime best swims, event champions included Sammy Bridges (200 Free Relay), Madelyn Christman (200 Back, 200 IM, 400 Free Relay), Jackson Carlile (500 Free, 1650 Free), and JoJo Ramey (200 IM, 200 Free Relay). In addition, Madelyn Christman’s 200 Back and Jackson Carlile’s 1650 Free were new Mid States meet records. Congratulations to you both!
On the coaching side, FAST was represented by Coach Chas Grimm and Coach Karen Gernert. “It was an honor to represent Indiana and FAST at Mid States,” began Coach Chas. “Mid States was a coaching experience that I will always remember and to share that experience with our FAST athletes and parent volunteers was extraordinary. Tiger Up!”
Thanks to all of the family, friends, and FAST fans for your tireless support of our athletes. We truly are a team and cannot reach these – and even greater heights - without each of you.
Congratulations again on a great Mid States All Star Championship meet to all of our competing athletes. We are excited to see what new heights we can achieve together. Tiger Up!
