The Osprey had a great meet at the Seth Dawson Memorial meet at Mt Hood. 100% of our athletes achieved at least 1 personal best time this past weekend – well done team! Many athletes had multiple personal best times.
Leading the way for the team this weekend was William Frost, with 6 personal best times and our only 1st place of the weekend in the 8 & U boys 50 yd butterfly! Our 8 and Unders tore up the pool with 100% times for all of them. Claire Couvreux had 3 best times with a 3rd place finish in the 100 free (1:49.23), Matthew Couvreux swam the 50 back for 12th place (1:09.21) and Juliet Crain also had three best times with a 5th place finish in the 50 yd freestyle (48.83).
Our 9-10 yr olds were close behind, led by Max Graves with 100% best times and a 29 second drop in his 100 yd backstroke! (1:42.02) Delaney Hackett, Sophie Helleberg and Leah Sandoval all had 4 best times, with a high place of 5th in the 200 yd IM with a 3:04.71 for Delaney, Sophie had a 15th place finish in the 50 yd butterfly with a 47.69, and Leah had a 10 second improvement in the 100 yd backstroke (1:43.64). Willow Hollowell rounded out that age group with 3 best times and nearly a 3 second drop in her 100 yd backstroke (1:18.90).
Two of our 12 yr old boys both had a 12 second improvement in swims – Jackson Bullock in the 200 yd free (2:28.39) for 8th and Christopher Dankenbring in the 1650 yd free (20:02.78). Jackson also swam to 5 personal bests, and Christopher swam to 4 best times with a 9 second improvement in his 200 yd butterfly (2:38.47). Gavin Hackett swam to 4 best times, including a 4th place finish in the 100 yd IM with a best time time of 1:12.69. Wyatt Stelma swam to a personal best by 2 seconds in the 50 yd backstroke (44.96).
Skyla Hollowell had a 2nd place finish in the 200 yd free (2:18.45) and swam to a best time in the 50 free with a 29.48. Chloe Carter swam to 4 personal best times, including a 14th place finish in the 200 yd freestyle with over a 2 second drop in time (2:45.04). Michelle Graves swam to two best times and also had a 6th place finish in the 200 yd IM with a 2:44.24. She also entered the HRVST Honor Roll by being a 12 & Under girl breaking 30 seconds in the 50 yd freestyle (29.80). Congrats Michelle!
Our 13-14 yr old girls all had swims to be proud of. Sophia Kaden dropped over a minute in her 1650 yd free on Friday night! Wow! (23:03.90). Sara Arpag swam to 4 best times, two 5th places (200 free and 50 free) and dropped 15 seconds in the 500 yd free (5:48.77). Miyuki Gerald had a big 3 second improvement in the 100 yd breaststroke (1:34.11) and swam a best time in the 200 yd free (2:32.88). Nora Sandoval had two best times, and a nice 5 second drop in the 200 yd backstroke for 12th place (2:37.05). Thea Smith swam to 5 personal best times, with an 11th place finish in the 200 backstroke (2:36.17) and 14th place in the 50 yd freestyle with a 28.25.
And our high schoolers both had a good mid-season meet, with Jade Smith dropping almost 4 seconds in the 200 yd IM (2:43.28) and best times in the 50 free and 100 back as well. Celilo Brun dropped over a second in the 50 yd freestyle for a 28.36, and also did a personal best for a 13th place finish in the 100 yd breaststroke (1:18.26).
