ORCA Announces Jerry Olszewski as new Head Coach

Orange Regional Competitive Aquatics (ORCA) Announces Jerry Olszewski as new Head Coach

Jerry Olszewski comes to ORCA with quite the resume of coaching accomplishments and accolades.  Until returning home to his roots in Southern California, he was recently the Head Coach of New Zealand Swimming.  He has been a member of the USA Swimming National Team staff much of the time from 1996-2016.  His former clubs, King Aquatics (1994-2002), Scottsdale Aquatics (2002-2007) and Arizona Gold (2007-2016), have won US Junior National, State, and Sectional Championships respectively, and each have been ranked in the top 25 of USA Swimming almost every year of his tenure as the Head Coach of those teams. He has hundreds of Junior National qualifiers to his name and has had numerous swimmers qualify for the US Olympic Trials. He also has had a World Ranked swimmer every year since 1996, with one earning a bronze medal in the 2000 Sydney Olympics.

Located in Orange, CA, ORCA is a USA Swimming club team of about 170 swimmers in the Orange Section of Southern California Swimming. Current Head Coach, Mark Tierney started with the team in 1998 and soon thereafter took over as Head Coach, President and CEO. Under Coach Tierney’s nineteen years of leadership, the team has seen much growth and success, including the development of a swim lesson and rec team program in partnership with the City of Orange, having swimmers win Junior Olympic titles, set numerous local high school records, win CIF Championships, qualify for US Junior Nationals and become High School All-Americans.  Tierney will remain as President and CEO, but hand his Head Coaching duties over to Coach Olszewski to lead the team to future heights.
