WEST Weekly

  Hello WEST families,

Thank you to everyone who came out to our Olympian Clinic this past weekend and had a chance to hang out with Team USA’s Jacob Pebley. We are extremely grateful as a club team to have this special opportunity as not many teams as a whole get to experience such a clinic that isn’t open to the public and are able to actually be in the water with an Olympian. I hope everyone got the opportunity to say hi to Jacob and his parents while they were here and I know we will definitely keep our eyes out for him at Tokyo 2020.

Here are WEST’s new items to be aware of this week:

NWAC Blue Heron Valentine Open

As many have heard, WEST was not able to attend the meet at BISC this weekend. We have over the past couple days have set up to attend the Blue Heron Valentine Open hosted by NWAC. The meet information is available online. The meet was running a bit small, so they have decided to combine to swim both sessions during the AM session on Saturday and Sunday. Here is the location & directions to the pool:

J ohn Vanderzicht Memorial Pool 85 SE Jerome Street Oak Harbor, WA 98277

Directions: From I-5 at Burlington, take Exit 230 onto Hwy 20 west. Proceed for 25 miles into Oak Harbor. Take a left on Whidbey Avenue (4th stoplight after entering Oak Harbor). Go east 6 blocks, and take a right on Jerome. Pool is second building on the right.

Apparently on google, the pool says it is permanently closed, however this information is straight from the meet announcement, so it may be an error on Google’s behalf or is closed to the public.

Practice Changes for Saturday 2/10

Swimmers not participating in the meet:

Challenge will practice with Accelerate 8:30 - 10:30.

All other groups will be Normal Schedule

Good luck to our competing swimmers at NWAC as well WEST’s high school boys as they head into Districts at the end of the week.

Happy swimming!
