Briefs 2/20/18

Hello TorpedoesNation,

THT Arctic Blast

Thank you to all who worked our last regular season meet.  We can not run a meet without your help.  The kids seemed to be having a blast, and I know they swam well.  While I am still crunching the numbers, we had an amazing meet.  With over 50% of swims best times, and almost 100 new swims, we are definitely improving as swimmers.  We also had new championship qualifiers in Jay VanDenBerg and Jarko Rumbaoa for divisionals. Also impressive were first time State qualifiers Pierce Lee (in multiple events), Annie Demchak, Ariana Bailey and Murphy Moore.

High point winners included: Carter Moore, Skylar Revere, Ty Lauritzen, Arianna Bailey, Demme Hancewicz, Haley Sakbun and Troy Oberste-Vorth.

What a great way to end our regular season.  Now we enter the championship season.

Practices the next 2 weeks

Despite preparing for championships, all swimmers are welcome to continue practicing through the end of February.  We will be focusing on our championship swimmers, but all are welcome until Feb 28th.  We will take March off, unless swimmers are participating in Divisionals or State.

Splish Splash at the Southwest Divisional Bash

We are hosting this championship meet.  To swim, athletes must have qualifying times (with an exception of possibly a few to fill relays).  Swimmers will compete in a format exactly as our Arctic Blast was set up, and we will need parent volunteers to help us run this meet.  We have a few extra surprises and incentives for athletes and workers alike.  Help us host the best meet we can Mar 2nd-4th.

Lessons program

Registration is now open for March lessons.  They begin Mar 5th-6th and continue through the 22nd.  Six 30 minute lessons, with an instructor in the water.  Great for friends of your swimmers, and great for those Spring Break plans.

High School Championships

Many congrats to our boys last weekend.  Many best times, and congrats to North finishing in 3rd place, a mere 1 point from 2nd.  Also TH South finished in 4th place.

Nathan Sommer will be representing North High School this weekend at the High School State Championships after his win in the 100 breaststroke.  Prelims begin on Fridayabout 6pm, with Nathan swimming about 8pm.
