This past weekend LAC College Swimmers Haley Hamza (UCSD) and Dante Demayo (Cal Poly) had major breakthroughs at their conference championships.
Haley got best times in the 500 free (4:56), 1000 free (10:06) and 1650 free (16:54) in this, her Sr year at UCSD. Haley placed 2nd in the 1000, 3rd in the 500 and 2nd in the 1650, setting a new UCSD record in the 1650, qualifying for NCAA Division 2 championships.
Dante got best times in the 50 free, 200 IM, 100 fly and 200 fly. His 200 fly time of 1:49 was a two second drop.
At LAC our goal is to help our swimmers achieve lasting success in swimming and in life. We focus on teaching technique at the highest level possible, while challenging each swimmer aerobically, and developing strength and flexibility in our dryland program. Perhaps most importantly, we want our swimmers to enjoy the sport and have a growth mindset that encourages them to keep improving as they move through college.
It is inspiring to see these awesome young student athletes continue their swimming careers in college with so much passion and success. Congratulations Haley and Dante! Go LAC!
