February 21, 2018
21 February 2018 (Surrey, BC) - The trip out to Van this past weekend turned out to be a fast, furious and fruitful weekend for a number of our swimmers - including one young Karnika Sitolay who turned in a new Canadian Junior Championships (CJC) qualifying time in the girls 1500m freestyle - 18:45.31 ( a 50 second PB!!!). The CJC times are getting increasingly harder every year and this is a nice step up for Karnika.
More highlights from the weekend include some big drops from Isabella Roth in the girls 200m breaststroke - down to 2:36.39 taking down the #1 seeded Canadian Jr Team member in front of her; Derek Hogan dropping 4 seconds in the 200m backstroke to get his 16 years-old Westerns time; Youssef Maksoud cracking the magic-minute mark in the 100 fly with a 2 sec PB of 59.13; Isak Nash’s 400 free negative split swim…swum backstroke - 4:32.70! Kian Pratt cracking the 5min mark in the 4IM for the first time Long Course - 4:58.94; Emma Sutton’s big 3 sec PB in the 200m back - 2:34.51; Jacob Windsor - another 3 sec PB in the 400 free - 4:30.99.
