RESULTS: LMR Championships

On February 17-18, VPSC sent 55 swimmers to the LMR Championships in Richmond, BC. Despite a power outage and cold indoor temperatures on the Sunday session, the team pulled out some great swims. Summaries below:

Junior Provincial

The meet was a fun competition for those who still had left some Tier 1 qualifications on the table. One of the main highlights for the group was seeing the swimmers have success in their “off events”.

Notable swims in the morning sessions included Noah Deschambault and Ian Cho, who were “lights out” in their breaststroke (Noah) and backstroke (Ian) events. Both boys assisted the other VPSC swimmers in a couple great relay swims as well.

For our afternoon sessions, Tyler Lee and Noa Holzman take the “hard-hat award” for having to go through a grinding multiple swim schedule. Tyler was awesome in his 400 free (PB by 7 seconds), with Noa showing poise in a 5-second improvement on her previous 200 Backstroke best time.

In terms of a “swimmer of the meet”, Iden Farzedeh was in fine form for all of his races. In Iden’s 50 Breast, he had a 2 second best time to dip under 38 for the first time. It was as exciting a swim as Iden has performed this year, good job!

This meet just made me even more excited for the first tier 1 championships in Penticton coming up March 8-11!
