On February 23th-25th, 61 of LHY’s 12/unders competed at the NJ YMCA 12/under State Championships at the Ocean County YMCA in Toms River, NJ.  They achieved 230 best times and broke 3 individual team records, as well as two team relay records.

Jonny Papendick won the 10/u Boys 200 Free in 2:13.29 and also broke the team record that he broke earlier in the season, formerly held by his Uncle Luke Papendick!

Cooper Moffat placed 3rd in the 10/u Boys 200 IM in 2:32.91 which broke Luke Papendick’s record from 2003.  Cooper also broke the boys 9/10 100 IM record by placing 3rd with a 1:10.21.  That record was formerly held by Todd Westhus and has been around since 1987!

Cooper and Jonny teamed up with Tyler Roer and Connor Johnson to break two additional team records in the Boys 9/10 200 Free Relay by placing 2nd and going 1:55.59.  That record was formerly held by Zach Ferdico, Ethan Posner, Marco Lucci, and Dylan Ostolaza from 2015.

The 2nd record the 9/10 boys broke was the 200 Medley Relay by placing 1st and going a 2:09.45.  The former record was another old one from 1985 held by Darren Buono, Geoff Standfast, John Mendell, and Robert Devries!
