Here's what's happening this week at Delaware Swim Team:

CHAMPIONSHIP MEETS
BRONZE CHAMPIONSHIPS
CHAMPIONSHIP MEET VOLUNTEERS
CONTRACT EXTENSIONS
SPRING CONDITIONING

CHAMPIONSHIP MEETS

Some championship meets are still open for entries, although most meets are closed.  If you missed a deadline to sign up for a meet, please contact Coach Matt at matthewaungst@freestyles.org ASAP about entry into your relevant championship meet.  Below are the pages for each meet, with meet announcement, eligibility reports, and other information available.

By the way, if you want to help your swimmer prepare for his or her respective championship meet, you should already be trying to fit in as many extra practices as possible.  If you come 2 times a week, you should be trying to make 3 times a week.  If you come 3 times a week, you should be trying to make 4 times a week.  Et cetera.  If a swimmer wants to get better, there is no substitute for being in the water and practicing.

BRONZE CHAMPIONSHIPS

There have been some changes made to the Bronze Championship meet.  You can see the warm-up changes for Bronze Champs here.  Please read through the second page, which gives some details for parents on spectator seating, and entry into the building.  More information on the meet will be sent out soon, with a much more detailed email going out next week leading up to the meet.

CHAMPIONSHIP MEET VOLUNTEERS

At some championship meets, each team will be required to provide a timer in order to make sure that the meet is properly staffed.  Teams with large numbers of entries will be required to provide a timer for certain sessions.  Since Delaware Swim Team is a larger team, we will have to provide timers over teams that are much smaller than us.

Timing at these meets will not count towards your service point balance, since these are not team-hosted meets.

~ We will need to provide two timers Saturday morning at Bronze Championships.  Please sign up here if you can time Saturday morning at Bronze Championships.
~ We will need to provide one timer for each session in which we have 5 swimmers (which is all sessions) at Mini Championships.  Please sign up here (and indicate that you are with DST) if you can time for any session of Mini Championships.
~ We will need several of our parents to volunteer at Silver Championships, including at finals.  Our meet volunteer page for Silver Championships will open in mid-March.
~ We will need to provide timers for Senior Championships.  No specific information on volunteering is available at this time.
~ We may need to provide timers at the Elite Showcase Classic.  No specific information on volunteering is available at this time.

Meanwhile, we are planning on putting Delaware Swim Team parent volunteers into only "skilled" positions for Silver Champs.  Skilled positions are positions like Admissions, Hospitality, Safety, Announcing, Colorado Operator, etc.  Positions like these will be a priority to fill at the meet, with timing being less of a priority for Delaware Swim Team parents to take care of.

CONTRACT EXTENSIONS

The administrative staff can extend our swimmer's contract, if it is set to end in March, but you would like to continue longer.  This is very simple for us, especially if you ask us to do it before March 1.  The practice schedules for each of the groups running right now will remain the same in April and May, and some groups will continue on to July.

If you wish to have your swimmer's contract extended, please contact our administrative staff at dstswimoffice@gmail.com.  Please make sure to indicate your swimmer's name, the group that the swimmer is currently in, and until how long you want your contract extended.

Swimmers who are signed up through to the end of May will have an opportunity to attend to-be-determined swim meets in May.  Swimmers who are not active members of Delaware Swim Team through the end of May will not be able to sign up for these May meets.

SPRING CONDITIONING

Our Spring Conditioning program is now open, for anyone who may want to get in some practicing before the summer swim league season begins.  You can register for the Spring Conditioning group right from the front page of the Delaware Swim Team website.  If you have any friends at your summer pool that may be interested in getting in some practicing in before summer arrives, please mention that we have a non-USA Swimming group that may be of interest.

Thanks,

The Delaware Swim Team coaching staff
