Athletic Training at WSAC

Walter Schroeder Aquatic Center is proud to announce its partnership with the Froedtert & the Medical College of Wisconsin health network to provide athletes with a licensed athletic trainer and sports medicine physician at our facility.

Athletic trainers work with physicians to help provide preventative services, emergency care, clinical diagnosis and rehabilitation of injuries and medical conditions. An athletic trainer from the Froedtert & MCW sports medicine team will have athletic training facility hours twice a week.

Walter Schroeder Aquatic Center’s athletic trainer is Sarah Wenszell. Sarah grew up in the Milwaukee area and swam for Schroeder since she was 7 years old. Sarah graduated from the University of Wisconsin- Milwaukee in May 2017 with a Bachelor’s degree in Athletic Training. While Sarah was in school obtaining her degree, she worked for Schroeder as a swim coach. It seems only fitting that with the new Schroeder partnership with Froedtert & MCW sports medicine that Sarah take on a new role as the athletic trainer.

If your child sustains a sports related injury, they can visit the athletic trainer at no charge. Sarah does an excellent job diagnosing an injury and figuring out the best treatment option. Sarah works very closely with Dr. Jon Campbell, Orthopedic Surgeon at the Froedtert & the Medical College of Wisconsin health network, making sure your child gets the best care in and out of the water.

On top of the hours at the Walter Schroeder Aquatic Center, Schroeder athletes and parents can contact Sarah through the Healthy Roster app on your phone.
