AB Masters - Monthly update for March 2018

Good morning fellow Master swimmers.

Here is your March update. Please read and update your electronic planning devices accordingly.

There is NO practice at M.E. Lyons YMCA this coming Saturday, March 3rd due to the YMCA “A” Championships being held here. We are expecting about 700 age group swimmers along with parents. This is an all-day affair. My advice to you is if you don’t need to be here then stay home.

With that being said, if you are interesting in getting in your swim workout, PCY will be hosting another All Open Masters Workout at their facility on Saturday March 3rd, which you are more than welcome and encouraged to attend. The start time is always 7 AM. The address for Powell Crosley Y is 9601 Winton Rd, 45231. And of course coffee and bagels are served afterwards.

IF you have not done so….Book mark the date of Saturday March 17th, 2018.This is the date for our meet, the Anderson Barracuda Masters (SCY) St. Patrick’s Day meet. We offer the 1000 free and 25’s for each stroke. The coaches would like to have 100% participation of all team members. Also, if you enter you make yourself eligible for relays.

The online entry is up and running; https://www.clubassistant.com/club/meet_information.cfm?c=1559&smid=9779

Of note, the on-line entry is the ONLY way to sign up for the meet. There are no DECK or paper Entries. Once the on-line closes on March14th, the heat sheets are produced and we are ready to roll.

1.        I will need help on the Friday evening at 7 pm (March 16th) to help get set up for the meet. Please let me know if you are able to help. We need to get tables; chairs, run wires for the timing system and put in touchpads. Once the meet is over, I will need help with breaking things down and putting items away too.

Other meet entries and specific meet information can be found on the USMS website at this link; http://www.usms.org/comp/event_search.php?utm_campaign=top_nav&utm_medium=events_and_results

2.        Like last year, the YMCA of Greater Cincinnati will send one team to compete in the 2018 YMCA National Masters Meet in Fort Lauderdale, Florida on April 19-22.  Masters swimmers from any YMCA of Greater Cincinnati branch are welcome to participate. By competing as one team representing our Y association, we will be able to have relays and will create a more fun and supportive experience for our swimmers. This is one of the reasons we conduct the All Open Masters workouts. The on-line entry is open for your registration;https://www.clubassistant.com/club/meet_information.cfm?c=1709&smid=9380

Thanks to all for their support and commitment to our Master’s program. As always please contact me if you have any questions.

Take care,

C.J. Rushman
