Ellison Finke

Ellison Finke is 9 years old and is in her first year with TNAQ.  She came to our program from a summer league team.  She loved the sport of swimming and wanted to keep it going all year.  Ellison started the year being familiar with all 4 strokes and she worked extremely hard to be legal in all 4 strokes at all the different distances.  Ellison would come to practice focused and determined to nail down her strokes.  Ellison competed at Regionals this month and swam 8 individual events and earned 100% best times.  It was very easy for Ellison to stay determined and to succeed with her hard work ethic and amazing positive energy that brings to practice.

Mary Sims Cross

Mary Sims Cross worked through adversity this season.  She had a major injury from a stingray sting this past long course season and had to pull out of  LC Southeasterns, her last 11-12 meet for LC.  She has worked through the pain and rehab to get to where she could spend full time in the pool. She also had a small set back with a car wreck but she has never stopped working hard and aged up right before Regionals and swam her first meet as a 13-14 year old and made a full slate of 13-14 cuts to go on to our Premier Meet in Nashville.

I would wake up 9am and eat a big healthy breakfast.  I would have my devotional time and  swim for 2 hours. Then I would eat lunch and hang out with friends or play outside with neighbors. I would serve homeless families with Family Promise, eat dinner, watch a movie or play a game with my family and go to bed.

Madeline Linkous

Madeline suffered a non-swimming related knee injury in the fall and after participating in the TNAQ hosted Junior Nationals elected to have knee surgery to repair some torn structure.  After weeks of rehab she has made her way back to the pool and is swimming as much as her surgeon and therapists will allow, often times swimming by herself.  Her road back to full speed will be very trying and require a tremendous amount of patience and determination.

What is your favorite swimming event?

My favorite swimming event is a toss up between the 100 and 200 butterfly, I enjoy both

What is your favorite movie?

My favorite movie is the Pixar film”Inside Out”, I really love the soundtrack of it and the story is adorable

How would you describe a perfect day for you?

A perfect day for me is going to my youth group on Wednesday nights at my church, Faith Promise, and hanging out with my friends and having fun.

If you could have any animal in the world as a pet, what would it be?

If I could have any pet, I’d definitely pick any big dog with lots of fur, much like Chewbacca, our family dog.

Favorite sport besides swimming?

If I had to pick a sport to play besides swimming, it would be track. I know it’s so uncommon for swimmers to enjoy running, but I do!

Hayden Williams

Hayden suffered a shoulder separation in the late summer, another non swimming related injury, and has constantly dealt with therapy, rest, physio tape, ice, ibuprofen, slower racing times, pain, missed water time, and frustration.  All of this occurred during a very important college recruiting window of the early fall, adding to the frustration.  Hayden continued to deal with his injury and has since gained his form, has some college visits in place, and is certainly back on track.
