HUGE NEWS/PRESS RELEASE: Islanders Aquatics Welcomes Coach Nick Spinella to Staff!

Senior/National-Elite Assistant Coach
Nicholas Spinella is in his first year coaching with Islanders Aquatics. He spent the previous two years coaching at Adelphi University where he ran both the Sprint and IM groups.
Nick attended H. Frank Carey High School in Franklin Square, New York. During his time there, Nick was named All-County, All-Long Island, All-State, and All-American. He was also the Nassau County record holder in the 100 yard backstroke for seven years, claiming it in his Junior Year of High school. Nick was a multiple USA Swimming Junior National Qualifier.
Additionally, Nick swam for legendary Coach Dave Ferris & The Long Island Aquatic Club (LIAC) from age 10 through his college career. Throughout his time there he claimed multiple National Age Group Top 10 finishes and he was a member of two Junior National Champion relays in his Senior year, one of which just narrowly missing the National Age Group record. Nick swam for Coach Mike Murray as a member of multiple METRO Eastern Zone All-Star teams.
After high school, he attended Marist College where he swam for the Red Foxes all four years. During his time there, Nick was a 2x MAAC champion in the 200 Backstroke, a former Marist College school record holder, and was a team Captain for the Red Foxes in his Senior Year. Nick was recruited to swim at Marist College by Coach Mike, while Mike was the assistant coach at Marist College.
Coach Nick will be primarily working with the Senior level groups at Islanders in the Sayville location, while also working alongside Coach Mike and Coach Marc in the National Group on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. We are very fortunate to have Coach Nick join Islanders Aquatics!
