This past weekend nine members of the Black 15 squad travelled to Edmonton to compete in the Edmonton Keyano Open. The meet was used as a long course primer for heading into champs and another opportunity to get some Western qualifying times. The swimmers seized the opportunity and achieved 42% best times as a group. We also had two new Western qualifiers with Evan Pfeifer in the 50 and 100 Back and Andrea Polan through an exciting 50 Back swim off to start Sunday night finals.
The swimmers raced through the weekend improving with each session. Another highlight of the meet saw Rachel Nicol come with the 100 Breast on Sunday as a tune-up for Commonwealth Games. Rachel will swim the 100 Breast at the Games on April 8th. Be sure to tune in to see her swim (more details to follow).
The group finished the meet with some positive results and lots of motivation to take them into Alberta Spring Champs which starts March 15th back in Edmonton. Great work Dino’s!
