News and Notes
Hard to believe this season is coming to an end! Our swimmers have come such a long way since their first few weeks in the pool. The Coaches are so proud of our swimmers and their families for all the support, encouragement and hard work both in and out of the pool this season! Thank you for all you do for your swimmer and for FCYST! Please continue to read through the News and Notes as we have important dates and reminders for the upcoming days, weeks and months.
-Everyone Counts, March 10-11: We are just a few days out for our second team hosted swim meet. Please double check times you are needed for your volunteer position. Also, please be aware of the Concession Donation you signed up for and the dates, times and location that the items are needed. Some donations are requested to be delivered to the Y in Appleton and others to the Y in Oshkosh. Dates and times are also listed on our website. More details about the meet such as warm up times, and heat sheets will be emailed to our families tomorrow.
-Practice Saturday, March 10: There will be a practice this Saturday for Junior and Senior group swimmers who already have their YMCA State Cuts. Practice will be at the Neenah YMCA from 7-9 AM. Practice is only for those with Y State Cuts.
-End of Season Potluck and State Send Off, March 12: We will have an End of Season Potluck and State Send Off Party at the Appleton Y from 6:30 PM-8:00 PM on Monday, March 12. This is an event for the entire team and their families to attend to celebrate what an awesome team we have and to recognize the swimmers that are heading to Y State. There will be fun, food and games! Please go to the team website for more information and to sign up for what you would like to bring for the potluck. An email will go out later this week confirming practice times on this date so all swimmers, coaches and families are able to attend.
-Y-State Shirts: All swimmers that are participating in the YMCA State Meet will be receiving a Y State shirt and a swim cap. T-shirt sizes will be ordered based on the size selected in your swimmer’s account. Any parent or other family member who would like to order a t-shirt can sign up for one using the Jobs Tab under the Y State T-Shirt event on our website. Make sure to list sizes in the notes. The cost for any additional shirts will be $15 and billed directly to your account. Anyone interested in ordering a shirt needs to sign up for one before NOON on Monday, March 12!
-YMCA State Meet, March 16-18: The last chance to make any individual YMCA State cuts is at the Everyone Counts Swim Meet this weekend. All swimmers who achieve State cuts or who are asked to participate in State relays should attend the meet. Please look at the Time Standards under the Meets and Events drop down tab on our website. If your swimmer already has, or if you think your swimmer is still able to achieve a state cut or if they will be available to participate in a relay if needed, please commit yes to attend this meet. If your swimmer is being considered for a relay, a coach will reach out to you by the end the Everyone Counts Swim Meet. If you have any questions, please reach out to one of the coaches.

-White Boards in Appleton: The old chalkboards in the Buchanan Pool have been removed and the new white boards have been hung and are being utilized at every practice. This is a great addition to our pool and much appreciated. The funds to purchase these boards came from the Thrivent donation. Thank you Bruce Romberg and Brian Flanagan!
-2018 Spring/Summer Season Updates:
- Hosted Swim Meets: Our team will be back to hosting two summer meets at the fabulous, new Erb Pool. The Summer Classic will take place June 16-17. The Bird Bath Open will take place July 6-8. Please get those 2 weekends on your family calendar as we know summer schedules fill up fast. A reminder that every season each family will be responsible for 4 volunteer sessions, 1 set up or tear down, and 2 concession donations, per the Volunteer Policy.
