2018 Spring Provincial Championships Roundup

Spring Provincial Championships

March 1-4, 2018 at the Etobicoke Olympium

Fourteen of our very best swimmers attended the 2018 Ontario Spring Provincial Championships this past weekend in Etobicoke and came away with some superlative results.

Topping the list would have to have been Cam MacCuaig who swam five events and medalled in four of them! Not only that, he came away with lifetime bests in all five events. He was first in the 200 IM, 2nd in the 100 back and 100 free, third in the 100 fly and 4th in the 400 free.

Also earning a medal was Natalie Peterson who won the 200 backstroke and placed 7th in the 100 back. Christian Iverson-Marr placed 8th in his best event, the 100 fly.

We also had four swimmers who were attending their first provincial championships and they acquitted themselves quite well. Su Yeong Choi achieved best times in all three of her events, 200 breast, 100 breast and 100 free. Hannah Cressman achieved PBs in the 100 back and 200 breast, Alexander Rus in the 400 IM and 200 fly while Jess Reibel placed 20th in the 200 breast.

Many of our other swimmers placed in the top 20. Kate Fitzpatrick was 13th in the 200 back and 14th in the 100 back. Andrew Kuiper placed 16th and 15th respectively in the 100 and 200 backstroke. Alexis Hollohan placed 17th in the 200 back and 20th in the 100 back. Stephanie Zhang was 17th in the 200 fly, Alina Armbruster was 17th in the 100 breast and Matt Berton placed 19th in the 200 IM.

Congratulations to all those swimmers who qualified for the championships and good luck to all our ROW swimmers as they move into the long course season. Let’s see how many more swimmers can get qualifying times for this summer’s provincial championships.
