Weekly Bulletin

Dear Parents and Swimmers,

Each week, we strive to keep you as up to date as possible with team news.

From Coach Clark

Hello LESD Families,
Good luck to our swimmers who will be competing this weekend at the Age Group Champs at Cleveland State.
As we head down the championship meet home stretch, I want to make sure you all know the great things our Silver Dolphin swimmers are doing in their meets. Last week we provided some short meet recaps for you. This week we have a couple more. Keep up the good work Silver Dolphin swimmers!!
Barbara Kay Mini Championship Meet
From Coach Allie: WOW! I am so impressed with our 8 & unders who travelled to Worthington to swim at the Barbara Kay meet. We were small in number but big in personal success.
Emery, our mighty 6 year old, swam personal best times in her events and even led the 8 year old medley relay to a 4th place overall finish (not bad for a deck entry). To top it off, Emery won the six year old high point runner up. Quincy rocked out personal bests and smiled after every race. Ellie showed a true competitive spirit reaching personal bests and striving for better with each swim. Daenerys swam her heart out through some nerves and realized how great competition can be! Peyton was our veteran keeping cheers going and everyone together all while swimming at her best! Josephine, also a veteran of the meet, was outstanding and cheered her team on. Erik swam personal bests in his races and helped his relay as well. Ethan overcame nerves and swam incredibly well. Everett was awesome dropping insane amounts of time in races. Ben was full of energy and swam with conviction to his personal bests. Katie tried her best to participate and cheered us on like a champ. Calvin joined us the final day and swam with heart in each race. Our two deck entries, Rohan and Meara both posted best times and even overcame obstacles such as goggles falling off and some anxiety.
Our LESD parents, the Pruces, organized an amazing team dinner complete with cake and goodies for the kids. We thank you for your dedication to our swimmers, the team and making this meet a success. Kids and parents alike enjoyed socializing and building friendships with each other making some great memories. My thanks to you all for an awesome season and travel meet to the Barbara Kay. Here’s to next year being just as amazing.
Senior Championship Meet
From Coach Clark:  Great Teamwork and Impressive Swimming is how I would describe the Silver Dolphin efforts at Akron last weekend.  Our swimmers just kept getting up on the blocks and improving their times again and again.  The meet began with a 1-2-3 high school finish by Sylvia Stewart-Bates, Julia  Johnson, and Ella Gilson as they were only beaten by college swimmers.
On Saturday night, the Silver Dolphins ran off a string of 20 straight "daily bests" which is what we call call time drops from the preliminary session.  The first twenty swims by LESD were faster than their times on the Finals Heat Sheets.
Our top point scorers were Zeb Hart who scored 62 points for LESD, swam every relay, and won the 100 Back in a Junior National qualifying time on Sunday.  Armando Cadena scored 34 points swimming best times in the 200 IM and 400 IM on consecutive evenings.  Frank Applebaum had a great weekend contributing 29 points and swam a terrific 200 Butterfly dropping 11 seconds from his seed time, and the 200 Fly was the last race of the weekend.
For the girls, Abby Hay scored 92 points and placed top 4 in all her individual events.  Her 2:17.00 in the 200 Breast on Saturday night was an LESD Team Record.  Sylvia Stewart-Bates raced 5000 competitive yards during the meet and scored 77 points.  Ella Gilson swam her way to 62.5 points and Bainon Hart scored 40.5 points while also swimming every relay in the program for the Silver Dolphins.
