Two Assistant Coaches
CMSA is pleased to announce the addition of two assistant coach working with our age group swimmers – Erica Dekle and Patty Tomley.
Dekle is a former CMSA swimmer and a graduate of Birmingham-Southern College (BSC) with a degree in psychology and an emphasis in health sciences. While at BSC, she swam all four years for the Panthers. In addition to working with CMSA, she is in graduate school, and works part time at Crew Fitness. She began her coaching career in 2011 as an assistant coach for the Country Club of Mobile. She coached there three summers, mainly working with 8&U kids, teaching them basic principles and strokes of swimming. Most recently, she was the head coach at Vestavia Country Club in Birmingham in the summers of 2016 and 2017.
Tomley has more than 25 years coaching experience including coaching college-level, junior nationals, age group, developmental, Special Olympics and masters swimmers with clubs in Ohio, New Mexico, Florida, and now Mobile. She also is a former collegiate swimmer at New Mexico State University. In addition to her work with CMSA, she coaches the master’s program at the Hearin-Chandler YMCA and does private coaching. Patty and her husband David have three children, all of whom are current or former swimmers, including a daughter, Temarie, who swims for the University of Alabama and is an Olympic qualifier.
