Silver Tide Invitational - Day 1 Results

10 March 2018 (Sherwood Forest, AB) - Well, the ancestral home of Robin the Hood played host to the Silver Tide Invitational this weekend with prelims for a number of events on Day 1 (Friday) yesterday.

Cascade sent a small elite crew up to the northern woods to look for some best times before the focus for our younger swimmers switches to long course metres swimming for the rest of the season - one last chance for seasonal short course bests or even new qualifying times for this summers provincials and championships.

Sydney Korner was a brand new provincial qualifier after her lifetime best time in the 50m backstroke of 44.33 in the prelims of the event. Next up was Payton Sheehan in the 100m breaststroke event as she lopped off a whopping four seconds to go from 1:38 to 1:34.08 making the provincial cut. Next, Jack Tevelein dropped a whopping 8 seconds to crack the magic 5 minute mark for the first time ever and went 4:58.85! Three brand new provincial qualifiers to keep this train rolling!
